Gunsmithing is high-precision work. Improper gunsmithing work can expose the shooter and bystanders to serious injury which can be life-threatening. Because of the many variables involved in any type of gunsmithing work, the consumer must assess their ability level and determine if they are capable of performing the work required. Since most gunsmithing work physically alters parts, consumers must realize that incorrectly-performed work may render the part being worked on as unusable. Some other items the consumer must consider include:
Their level of skill, knowledge, experience and training
The quality and adequacy of their tools, machinery and parts
The condition of the firearm and its suitability for the intended modifications
The variations in ammunition and its direct impact on accuracy and performance, etc.
Please remember to use an experienced gunsmith as "part of your team." They can help you understand the details of the work and provide coaching so that you complete the job in a safe, high-quality manner.
